Slim, mini, large and more: nicotine pouch formats explained

NOIS slim nicotine pouch cans from the Black and White lines

Strength and flavour get most of the attention, but the shape and make-up of the pouch itself changes the experience too. Two products with the same nicotine per pouch can feel different because one is slim and dry and the other larger and moist. This guide explains the format words you will see on cans and what each one actually changes.

Why format matters

A pouch's format affects three things:

  1. Comfort and discretion — how it sits under the lip and how visible it is.
  2. How quickly it is felt — size, moisture and the pouch material all affect how fast flavour and nicotine are released.
  3. How much it holds — a heavier pouch holds more filling, so at the same concentration it delivers more nicotine. That is the link between format and strength, explained in mg per pouch vs mg per gram.

Slim

Slim pouches are long and narrow. They are the most common format in the market and in our shop: every 51 Pouches, CUBA, PABLO, VELO, KLINT, Snowman, Greatest, NICCOS and NOIS product we stock is slim.

What slim does well:

  • Discretion. A narrow pouch sits flat under the upper lip and is hard to notice.
  • Comfort. The shape follows the gum line, which many people find comfortable for longer sessions.
  • Choice. Because slim is the default, almost every strength and flavour is available in it.

"Slim" describes shape, not weight. Slim pouches in our catalogue range from about 0.5 g (NOIS, Greatest Cold Dry Strong) to 0.75 g (51 Pouches), which is why two slim products at the same mg per gram can hold different doses.

Mini

Mini pouches are smaller and shorter than slim ones, with less filling. They are often chosen by people who want something very discreet or a lighter, shorter experience. Because there is less filling, a mini pouch usually delivers less nicotine than a larger pouch at the same concentration. We do not currently stock a mini format, but the term is common on other brands' cans.

Large, regular and XL

Larger pouches are wider and hold more filling. They tend to release more flavour, can feel fuller under the lip and, at the same concentration, contain more nicotine. Some brands call this format "regular", others "large" or "XL". It is a matter of preference: some users like the fuller feel, others find it too bulky.

Within our range, the pouches closest to this end are PABLO Ice Cold XXL at about 0.8 g and K#RWA Collection Max at 0.8 g per pouch (16 g in a can of 20). The "XXL" in PABLO's name refers to the can, which holds 30 pouches instead of the usual 20.

Moisture: dry and moist

Moisture is one of the least visible but most noticeable differences between products.

  • Moist pouches release flavour and nicotine sooner. They tend to feel softer and start working faster.
  • Dry pouches start more slowly and are less likely to feel wet or drip. Some people find them more comfortable and longer-lasting.

Brands rarely print a moisture percentage, but the name often tells you: Greatest's whole range is called Cold Dry, a clear statement of where it sits. A dry pouch can feel milder at first than a moist one with the same mg per pouch, so allow a few minutes before judging its strength.

Moisture in practice

If you switch from a moist pouch to a dry one, expect the first few minutes to feel quieter and the flavour to build more gradually; resist the urge to add a second pouch. Going the other way, from dry to moist, the first minutes can feel more intense than the milligrams suggest. In both cases the dose per pouch is unchanged; only the pace differs. A dry pouch can also be a sensible choice for long sessions, because it is less likely to feel wet or to drip as it is used.

"All white"

"All white" means the pouch and its filling are white, because there is no brown tobacco leaf inside. All the nicotine pouches we sell are tobacco-free and all white. The term describes colour only; it says nothing about strength or quality.

Can sizes and pouch counts

Most cans hold 20 pouches, and most of our range follows that. The exceptions are worth knowing because they change the price per pouch:

ProductPouches per can
Most brands we stock20
NOIS White line (10 and 12.5 mg)22
NOIS Black line (17.5 and 25 mg)27
PABLO Ice Cold XXL30
Greatest Cold Dry Mega Can200

The Greatest Mega Can is a large-format can of 200 pouches, offered at 8 mg and 11.6 mg per pouch. It suits regular users of one product who would otherwise buy many standard cans. Keep the lid closed between uses; our storage guide explains why freshness matters more in a large can.

Pouch weight across our range

Pouch weight is the format detail that most directly affects strength, because it decides how much filling — and therefore how much nicotine at a given concentration — each pouch holds. Where the figures reach us, this is how our range compares:

ProductPouch weightConcentrationNicotine per pouch
NOIS (all)0.5 g20–50 mg/g10–25 mg
Greatest Cold Dry Strong / Mega Can 8 mg0.5 g16 mg/g8 mg
ZEUS (all)about 0.5 g50 mg/g25 mg
Snowman (all)0.6 g20–50 mg/g12–30 mg
PABLO Exclusive0.6 g50 mg/g30 mg
Greatest Arctic Cold Dry0.6 g16.6 mg/g9.96 mg
CUBA (all)0.65 g66 mg/g43 mg
Greatest Cold Dry Intense / Mega Can 11.6 mg0.7 g16.6 mg/g11.6 mg
51 Pouches (all)0.75 g5.3–21.3 mg/g4–16 mg
K#RWA and K#RWA Collection0.75 g—12 mg
K#RWA Collection Max0.8 g—43 mg
PABLO Ice Cold XXL0.8 g30 mg/g24 mg

Weights come from the supplied pouch weight, or from net weight divided by pouch count, or (Snowman, ZEUS) from the two strength figures. KLINT and NICCOS are left out because their per-pouch figures are still being confirmed.

The table shows why "slim" is not a single size: PABLO Ice Cold XXL's 0.8 g slim pouch carries about 60% more filling than a 0.5 g NOIS slim pouch.

Reading the format information on a can

  1. Look for the format word — slim, mini, large, regular, XL — usually on the lid or side.
  2. Find the pouch count, often printed as "20 pouches" or "×20".
  3. Find the net weight in grams. Divide by the pouch count for the weight of one pouch.
  4. Look for moisture hints — "dry", "moist", "fresh" — usually in the product name or description rather than as a figure.
  5. Check the strength in mg per pouch last, now that you know the pouch weight behind it.

Common format mistakes

  • Assuming slim means light. Slim describes shape. CUBA's slim pouch carries 43 mg.
  • Comparing value by can price alone. A 27-pouch can and a 20-pouch can at the same price are not the same value.
  • Judging a dry pouch in the first minute. Give it time to start.
  • Ignoring pouch weight when switching brands. The same mg/g in a heavier pouch is a stronger pouch.

Cooling and "ice"

Words like "ice", "freeze", "frost" and "arctic" usually point to a cooling agent in the flavouring. Cooling changes how a pouch feels as much as how it tastes: a strongly cooled pouch can feel sharper and more intense at the same nicotine strength. If you find a product harsher than its milligrams suggest, a less cooled flavour at the same strength may suit you better.

How to use format when choosing

  1. Choose strength first, by mg per pouch — see our strength guide.
  2. Then choose the feel. Slim for discretion, larger for a fuller feel, dry for a slower start, moist for a quicker one.
  3. Check the pouch count if you are comparing value between cans.
  4. Give a new format a fair try. It can take a few uses to get used to a different size or moisture.

Questions and answers

What is the difference between slim and mini pouches?

Slim pouches are long and narrow; mini pouches are smaller and shorter with less filling. Mini pouches usually contain less nicotine than larger ones at the same concentration.

Do dry pouches feel weaker?

They can feel milder at first because they release nicotine and flavour more slowly. The dose per pouch is the same as stated on the can.

What does "all white" mean?

That the pouch and filling are white because there is no tobacco leaf inside. It does not describe strength.

How many pouches are in a can?

Usually 20. Some products differ: NOIS cans hold 22 or 27, PABLO Ice Cold XXL holds 30 and the Greatest Mega Can holds 200.

Nicotine pouches are intended for adult users only. They should be used responsibly, kept out of reach of children and pets, and never swallowed.
